South Carolina – Some S.C. leaders welcome corps dredging report – Savannah Morning News

COLUMBIA — The dredging report is out, and a distinct but steadfast minority of South Carolina officials are hailing its findings.

South Carolina officials from Jasper County and the Lowcountry region said Wednesday their communities stand to prosper from Georgia’s river deepening plans. They added their voice to a long list of business and government leaders who welcomed a report from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wednesday that said deepening the Savannah harbor was in the best interest of the country.
